Follow Your Instincts: If something does not look right, let us know. Chances are, its probably nothingbut why leave our safety up to chance?

In past campaigns, Jefferson Transit has asked riders to be involved, informed, alert and prepared as well as an extra pair of eyes to look out for the safety of themselves and other passengers on the transit system.  Now we are asking you to trust your instincts.  If something seems suspicious or out of the ordinary let us know.  If you see something that does not look right do not take action, but report it to the nearest Jefferson Transit Employee or law enforcement official or call the transit number 504-818-1077 or dial 911 for immediate assistance.

It is important to be aware of your surroundings on the bus, at bus stops, and at bus terminals.  You can help keep the transit system safe by being aware of any suspicious activity and reporting it to JeT employees or emergency officials immediately.  Trust your instincts! You could prevent a major transit emergency by doing so.

Transit Watch was developed by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Transit Administration (FTA) in partnership with the American Public Transportation Association (APTA), the Community Transportation Association of America (CTAA), the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU), and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Transportation Security Administration (TSA).

The latest campaign from Jefferson Parish Transit Administration (JPTA) is part of a three year campaign to educate the public on how they can help to improve transit security for Jefferson Transit passengers. The purpose of this campaign is to increase public awareness of security issues, to encourage passengers to take an active role in keeping transit safe, and to inform the public of proper evacuation procedures during an emergency event.
