Jefferson Transit cares about your safety and security, which is why we have launched JeTs Transit Security Public Education Campaign (PEC). Through this campaign, JeT has taken an active role by informing riders what to do in the event of a transit emergency. For the past year Jefferson Transit has distributed posters for fixed route vehicles, paratransit vehicles, and terminal kiosks, and updated the JeT website with information on transit security and how riders can help Jefferson Transit remain safe for everyone. These Transit Security campaigns include the Be Alert campaign, the Emergency Evacuation campaign, and the Be Involved, Informed, Alert, and Prepared campaign.
As part of this effort, Jefferson Transit has also begun conducting Transit Security Outreach Days to further inform riders of how they can act to prevent a transit emergency, how to remain safe during a transit emergency, and what to do and report when witnessing suspicious activity. At these events, Jefferson Transit has handed out schedule booklets, security brochures, and promotional items at the Wilty Terminal (March 23), the Walkertown Terminal (April 26), the City Park and Canal Boulevard stop (April 28), and the Causeway Boulevard and Jefferson Highway stop (May 13).
